Left and Right

I’ve often thought that much of the polarization in our Church and in society can be traced back to basic ways in which we comprehend reality. “Conservatives” and “liberals” merely approach the same situation from different viewpoints. It’s a part of our diversity, something to be treasured and appreciated, rather than an occasion for setting up opposing camps — no matter how annoying the other may be!

And to illustrate that idea is an amazing test compliments of the Daily Telegraph in Australia. Do you see the dancer spinning in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction? It offers a clue to which side of your brain is dominant. If you see her spinning clockwise, your right brain dominates, and if you see her spinning counter-clockwise, your left brain dominates. And if you try, you can see her spinning in the opposite direction of what you originally perceived. What a wonderful analogy for life!
